A birthday magic show gives the party a middle that holds together. The children sit down, the magician gets them laughing within a minute, and near the end the birthday child is called up front for the trick everyone remembers. You can book a kids party magician in Singapore for a condo function room, an HDB void deck, your home, an indoor playground or a restaurant party room.
Price: a kids birthday magic show usually costs SGD 250 to 650 for 30 to 60 minutes. See magician prices in Singapore.
What the show looks like
The show is built for 15 to 40 children aged about 3 to 10. It mixes comedy, a volunteer or two from the audience and a prop finale, such as a vanishing object or a burst of confetti. The birthday child sits in the front row and gets a hero moment near the end.
Most parents book the show for the middle of the party. The children are fresh, the food has not been served yet, and the adults get 30 to 60 minutes to sit back.
Get the age range right
The most common complaint after a kids show is that the material did not fit the room. A set for six year olds falls flat with ten and eleven year olds, and a show for older children loses toddlers in minutes. When you ask for a quote, give the full age spread of the children who are coming, not just the birthday child's age.
How long it runs
- 30 to 45 minutes suits younger children and most home parties.
- Up to 60 minutes works when balloon sculpting follows the show.
- For 40 children of mixed ages, a 30 minute show is usually too short for the older ones.
What is included
The magician brings the props, gives the birthday child a shout-out and gets the children seated and quiet for the show. Sound, balloon twisting, face painting and a bouncy castle are not included. They are booked as separate add-ons, so ask for them at the same time and the timing works. See magic with balloons and face painting.
Space, parking and the room
The magician needs a clear spot of about 2 by 2 metres, a chair or low table for props and 10 to 15 minutes to set up. Check with your condo management whether confetti is allowed in the function room. If parking is tight, say so when you book, so the magician can plan travel time or arrange parking with the management office. The planning guide has a full checklist.
When to book
For a normal weekend, book two to four weeks ahead. Saturday afternoons and the June, November and December school holidays go first, so book four to six weeks ahead for those dates.
Grown-up guests too?
If the adults want their own magic, add roving close-up magic for the parents while the children play. For an adult birthday, see party magicians or a mentalist. Send the date, the venue and the ages on WhatsApp or through the quote form.
